Rebecca McGarrity: Deputy Director General - Policy Division in the Department of Premier and Cabinet

Rebecca McGarrity has more than 20 years’ experience in the Queensland public sector. In her current role as Deputy Director General, Policy Division, in the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Rebecca is responsible for providing policy advice for the Premier on key issues including social, economic, environmental and legal policy, and providing high level strategic advice to the Premier and Cabinet on the implementation of key government decisions. Rebecca has been responsible for a range of policy portfolios in the Division, including counter terrorism, disaster management, health, disability services, state development, environment, innovation, and energy. Rebecca has been the recipient of the Harvard Club of Australia’s Wolfensohn Scholarship (2018) and was awarded a Public Service Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours (June 2019) ‘for outstanding public service to social policy development in Queensland’.
