A bear covered in grey concrete dust. A twisted ceiling fan. A doll found tangled in barbed wire. These all tell a story about what happens when wars are fought in cities.

These are some of the objects in the War in Cities exhibition, coming to the University of Queensland in August. Alongside sketches, photos and audio recordings, these objects collected from battlefields shed light on how people’s lives are impacted by war. They tell a story about the staggering toll of urban warfare, but also of the resilience of many.
