Technologies, Geopolitics and Governance
Technologies, Geopolitics, and Governance with Dr Jiye Kim
This course explores emerging technologies that are reshaping geostrategic theatres across land, maritime, cyber and outer space domains. Using classical and contemporary geopolitical frameworks, students will analyse the interactions between technologies with states, non-state and private sector actors, leading to outcomes including great power rivalry, non-state aggression, and commercialisation. The course examines existing gaps in global governance and the impact reflected in policy responses from key actors. It concludes by reflecting on evolving technologies and the innovative approaches they require in the context of geopolitics and global governance.
