There are many legitimate reasons why you will need to apply for an extension for your assessment whilst you study at the School.

As such it is important to understand what the procedure is for requesting an extension, as it is different depending on whether you are studying into the Undergraduate or Postgraduate Program.

Students Studying in the Library

Undergraduate

  • Applications for an extension should be emailed to pols@uq.edu.au before the original due date.
  • You must attach a completed Application for Extension of Progressive Assessment form.
  • You must include “Request for Extension” and the Course Code (i.e. POLS1201) in the subject line.
  • Request for extensions made on or after the due date may only be granted in circumstances where you cannot reasonably have been expected to have met this requirement.

Postgraduate Coursework

  • Applications for an extension should be emailed to your Course Coordinator before the original due date (you can find their email address in your course's Electronic Course Profile).
  • You should set out the grounds for your application extension in the Application for Extension of Progressive Assessment form and email a copy as an attachment to your course coordinator with “Request for Extension” in the subject line.
  • Request for extensions made after the due date may only be granted in circumstances where you cannot reasonably have been expected to have met this requirement.
