The Practitioner: Freya Bliss
Graduate, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade

Freya started at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in 2020, where she has worked on Strategic Policy, Contestability and Futures; as well as in Consular and Crisis Management supporting Australia’s international response to COVID-19. Currently she is working on the United States – Australia bilateral relationship, with a particular focus on the US-China relationship and international legal issues. Freya completed a double Masters of International Relations / Masters of International Law at the University of Queensland in 2019, where she focussed on the gendered impacts of international development programming in the Pacific, and how rising sea levels due to climate change could influence our understanding of statehood in international law.
