WEBINAR - The Future of R2P in a post COVID-19 world

Fri 29 May 2020 2:00pm3:00pm

Via zoom (see link in event description)

As the risk of atrocity crimes sky-rockets due to the unprecedented social-political crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are witnessing further harm upon the world’s most vulnerable populations already threatened by atrocity crimes, especially in the Indo-Pacific Region.
Thus, we inevitably ask ourselves, how is the world responding? Do we have a responsibility to protect our most vulnerable, displaced populations to prevent further discrimination and violence from occurring in the region through our unique positions in the world stage? And how should the world respond in the future ?

This is a panel discussion on R2P and how the Indo-Pacific Region is coping with COVID-19 and what the future holds for R2P.
The Asia Pacific Centre for R2P and the Responsibility to Protect Student Coalition at UQ aims to uncover how nations in the Indo-Pacific Region have reacted and will react to pandemics and other potential 21st century global crises in the future, within this combustible atmosphere of heightened risk of violence and enhancement of Atrocity Crimes.

Join us at 2 pm (AEST) Brisbane time on the 29th May 2020 via Zoom for this FREE event open to all the UQ and world community.
