Bachelor of International Studies Students Win Prestigious New Colombo Plan Scholarships

10 Dec 2015

The School is excited to announce that three of our undergraduate students from the Bachelor of International Studies have been awarded highly prestigious New Colombo Plan Scholarships for 2016. The School extends its warmest congratulations to Ms Carmen Garratt, Mr Isaac Bennett and Mr Lachlan Kenway for this outstanding achievement!

An Australian Government Initiative, the New Colombo Plan Scholarships offer the opportunity to live, study and work in the Indo-Pacific region for up to 12 months. One hundred of Australia’s brightest undergraduates from 26 universities have been awarded scholarships for 2016.

“Of the seven New Colombo Plan Scholarships awarded for 2016 to students from The University of Queensland, the School is extremely proud that three of these are from the Bachelor of International Studies. It is a testament to the calibre of the program and the student cohort” (Head of School, Associate Professor Richard Devetak).

Ms Garratt’s destination is South Korea, Mr Bennett’s is Indonesia and Mr Kenway’s is Japan. We wish them well for an exciting and rewarding 2016.
