In Memory: Jacky Sutton
The School of Political Science and International Studies is deeply saddened to learn of the sudden death of Jacky Sutton. Ms Sutton is remembered by the school as an enthusiastic participant at the recent International Feminist Journal of Politics Conference held in June at UQ’s Women’s College. At this event she gave a memorable paper on women’s efforts to achieve political and institutional recognition in Afghanistan, exploring how statebuilding interventions have hampered and assisted those ambitions. Beyond her valued contributions to the feminist academic and activist community in Australia, Ms Sutton was also internationally renowned for her work in media and development and as a profession journalist. The School extends its sincere sympathies to Jacky’s family, friends and professional colleagues.
