2014 Dean’s Award for Outstanding Research Higher Degree Theses

15 Apr 2015

The School is pleased to report that two of our recent RHD graduates – Dr Lorann Downer and Dr Anouk Ride – were selected by the Dean of the UQ Graduate School as recipients of the 2014 Dean’s Award for Outstanding Research Higher Degree Theses.

These awards are made on the basis of examiner’s reports and examiner’s recommendations that the thesis represents “a substantial contribution to the field of research”.

Fewer than 10% of PhD and MPhil graduates are recognised this way each year. Congratulations Dr Downer and Dr Ride!

Dr Downer's thesis was titled "Kevin 07 and the Real Julia: Labor’s Use of Political Branding in 2007 and 2010"

Dr Ride's thesis was titled "'Divided yet one': Narratives of Conflict and Peace in Solomon Islands"
